The Results Are In

There’s a difference between me seeing Life Coaching as an asset to our community vs others seeing it as an asset. When I started my journey towards achieving my Certification as a Life Coach, all I was going on was a gut feeling, this being a much needed service for our Islands and Northern BC. Never did I think I would be starting up my own small business and private practice. I had no clue HOW I was going to be able to start doing. Supporting people to see what I see in them, there true potential. This being said I jumped in anyways, I trusted the signs that where coming to be from the Universe, this is part of my path and journey on this earth. I’m here to make a difference in the lives of others.

Trusting in others is a quality I struggle with and so this was both a financial risk and emotional risk, knowing at the end of the training I would need to put myself out there and face one of my demons “fear of rejection”.

Haawa everyone for helping me put myself out there. Thank you for all the constructive and positive feedback. Thank you to my family. While over the last few years I’ve put so much time, energy and patient into myself in pursuing my education and rebuilding myself body, mind and spirit. I am now ready to motivate, support and encourage others to take their leap into change.

As the survey shows I believe a number of you are also ready to take the leap into Change.

Results for 77 Surveys Completed as of Saturday Feb 18th, at 10am.

Age Range of Participants

40% of participant where between 34-44 and 29% between 26-34. This completely makes sense to me as it’s often between the ages of 26-44 we find ourselves at the most cross roads and furthest away for where we imagined we’d be in our early 20’s.

I was pleasantly surprised that 54.22% percent of people who filled out my survey know what a Life Coaching is, as this will make my marketing a bit easier. Knowing when people are asking “What is Nadine Up to NOW” there are at least a few people out there that understand how a life coach works.

When you think about this services, do you see it as something needed or not needed?

For me this was the most exciting part with 82% of participant saying this in needed, my Gut feeling was right well over a year ago, glad I’ve learned to followed my intuition.

  • 27 definitely needed - 35.06%

  • 36 probably needed - 46.75%

  • 12 neutral - 15.58%

  • 2 probably don't need - 2.60%

Top 3 Areas participants are wanting to make changes in their life

  • Motivation to reach Health Goals

  • Encouragement in Dreams and Vision of the Future

  • Support in their personal relationships

Comments:

“My weight has been a real struggle. I also need to be more confident”

“How to deal with stress... And grief. A process to go through for losing a child through miscarriage.”

“I have a tendency to choose the same drunk man as my partner…. I want to stop this pattern. Thanks.”

“I think I would benefit from interactive activities that help me see what "I" want for my future. Also techniques to continue to live without fear.

Length of a Coaching Relationship

This Question generated lots of interest and comments with, 39% said they thought a coaching relationship would last about 6months.

“no set time frame”

“Until the client looks, feels and embraces self-confidence and affirms trust to walk confident in their new journey”

“I could see maybe wanting about 10 sessions, but it's hard to say if that would work better every week for 10 weeks, or once a month for 10 months (I'm leaning toward once a month for ten months being the better option)”

“Depends somewhat on complexity of goal”

“However long you need it”

There were many more comments mostly saying it just depends, you all are very correct it depends. Stats from the International Coaching Federation show that most coaching relationships last about 6months, some clients needing longer or quarterly check-in after the 6months to help stay on track.

My #1 goal will be to reach out to those of you who I’ve supported, motivated, and encouraged over the past 9 years since re-entering the workforce after the birth of my son, asking you to email me (Dlaang.wellness@gmail.com) or comment below on this Blog with “What has my support meant to you?” and allowing me to share with possible clients, either with your name or anonymously.

Hourly Rate for Services with a Life Coach

69 responses totaling $3101 / 69 gives me an average of $44.94 for an hourly rate.

There were 15 responses saying a rate of 20 or lower. With paying rent at $15per hours, plus travel, insurance, and other business costs at a rate of 20$ or lower I wouldn’t be able to make these few costs, little alone being paid myself for my time and then the likely hood of burn out and failure of business would be high.

I hope I’ve found a middle ground that works for many base off this average as well as how long people often work with a life coach. Your first Session with me will always be FREE. I’ve set my rates for at least the next year at between $40 -$60 per hour. If you sign up for 6month the rate is $40 an hour, however I’m always open to talk about trade for service etc, to possibly lower this. I also have a special offer going on right now called “Share the Love” if you book with me before March 21, 2017 $60 for 4 Sessions, see my Face Book Page for offer details.

How would you like to work with me?

52% stated Face to Face and 48% said either would be fine, no one pick internet only.

This leads me to believe that if at all possible most people living in my service area would like to work with me Face to Face. To answer this I have agreed to Rent Space at Sun Studio in Queen Charlotte, if there is enough interest in the North I would consider finding a place to rent up there also and traveling one day a week. Internet is also always available as a way to receive support, I use a program called ZOOM.

How likely is it that you would recommend my new services to a friend or family member?

80% of participants rated this at a 4/5 for likelihood, however the comment on this question indicate what will hold them back from encouraging someone to receive support. Seems the key for referrals is that they first would like to check-out the service for themselves. Makes sense thats often how I feel about a service, I need to try it out before I can vouch for it.

  • “Depends … I like to bear witness to success”

  • “I probably wouldn't recommend until I had had a session myself”

  • “Depends on my experience”

Final Comments from participants

41 participant took the time to leave me a final comment WOW!! Thanks, everyone comment is so important to me, and my development of my services.

Here are a few of the comments, it was so hard to pick which ones to post.

“Develop relationships with clients through trust, caring, kindness and compassion. Their empowerment will be the gift that comes through you, not from you. Your humility is your strength. “

“We are short of counselling/support services in our communities and this is a specialized service that is currently not locally available. I think there is definitely a niche for this service here.”

“Everyone needs support!”

“I honestly believe the community needs these services to be healthy”

“This service would be god sent. I’ve always pondered a life coach. But never really went for it, but here I am filling out your survey. Like I always like to say "Everything happens for a reason"”

“Always good to have someone to be accountable to about what you say you are going to do and help you to be successful meeting goals.”

“At an age where I just want to do something new and different and would like the support”

“Life coaching/counseling/professional support is not only scarce, but the level of professionalism is seriously lacking in our community. To have another option from someone who exhibits all of the capabilities of having a sincere relationship on a professional level is most definitely what our community needs.”

“The overall improvement of our communities’ health and well-being. Rock on Nadine! Cheers”

“Gives people an option to help themselves with gentle guidance and non-judgemental help”

“This service interests me most is that I feel comfortable and wanting to do something About my life, because you give off great life vibes and you have a sense of understanding”

“Just because I find myself unlikely to use these services, I fully support the need to have this available in our community.”

“Help to stay on track would be amazing.”

“I think life coaching services here are really needed, and would serve our community well”

“I've met with life coaches in the past who have helped me transition from one thing to the next and were also helpful in re-framing things for me, so I could process them better.”

“Learning to improve yourself is exciting and very worth it...self-happiness will improve your health and mind... “

“Sometimes getting something shared with another person can help you clarify the situation and what needs to be done”

“The motivation to get things done in my life, and to sort things out regarding my on again, off again relationship. My future goals for my job, my eventual retirement. Haw'aa.”

“Unbiased, confidential, able to help client focus or redirect to achieve goal(s) and help establish those goals”

“I wouldn’t use it myself, but it would be great for other people to access.”

“Definitely a service that has been lacking here on Haida Gwaii.”

“The fact that it's being offered is great.”

“Individual customized service to help me see my life clearly. Identify my goals and dreams. Not those of my family or spouse but a true focus on me”

“When a service is provided, it's so much easier to get help.”

“The idea of local support as often outside services breeze in for a weekend and do not have the capacity for follow up and on-going support. “

“Everyone could use a little bit of plan, motivation, and cheerleader in accomplishing their goals in life.”

“I've realized that I need to report to someone to help me reach some goals that I need to set for myself, that I lack an objective opinion and/or support person in the community, and that while I can do it on my own it'd be good to have someone else to cheer me on.”
